Violets Again

100_5091

This was taken with limited flash. With a point-and-shoot camera, you have to fool the sensor or the shutter will stay open too long, resulting in a blurry image. So what I usually do is hold my hand over the flash. Sometimes I block it all out, and others, I let a little bit of light escape. This time, I did the latter.

I processed this one a little differently from Monday’s violets, so the color is warmer.

Blue Sky

100_5083

It flurried most of the morning, but in the early afternoon, the sky cleared and turned a gorgeous shade of blue. There was a perfect Belt of Venus this evening, too, but I was too busy watching it to take pictures.

No art again today, but there will be something tomorrow. Now, though, it’s way past my bedtime, and a sore throat has been teasing me all day, so I’m going to bed. If Mr. Upstairs wakes me up again tonight, I may have to kick him in the shins. I finally complained about him blasting talk radio all night in the room above my bedroom (boy, does that ever make for weird dreams!), so now he’s spending the night plonking away at the keyboard. How on earth he thinks that’s an improvement is beyond me. There’s something seriously wrong with that man.

Musical Cubicles

My Window

I was hoping that, when one of my coworkers retired, I would be able to upgrade to her cubicle. It’s in the back of the room, by the window, so it’s nice and quiet. Unfortunately, someone with more seniority than I requested it, so it went to her. That meant that her cube was up for grabs, though.

At first, I was tempted to stay put, because the move would put me closer to the serials department, and they are a rowdy bunch. However, I decided that the pros outweighed the cons, so this afternoon, we played musical cubicles. (This is not a fun game, by the way, as it involves the moving of approximately a brazillion books.)

After getting somewhat settled, I decided that the view from my new cubicle is actually better than that from the coveted cubicle, so I’m glad things worked out this way. Now, if the sun ever comes out again, I’ll be able to see it!

Allergies, I Hates Them

My eyes have been burning ever since I got to work this ayem. Ugh. There’s something toxic in the air here, but I don’t know what it is. With the way the ventilation in this building works, it could be someone painting in the basement or on the 10th floor. Burning eyes and runny nose? It must be happydamnMonday!

Oh, great, now I’m coughing. Maybe I’ll be lucky and this’ll be a harbinger of the plague? Kill me now!
