Today’s pear, and both pears together. Posca pens are addictive. You can make the tiniest dots with them. It’s very satisfying.

Pear
I made an accordion book out of recycled cardboard. Why? Why not? I can’t credit the person I got the idea from. I think I saw it on Instagram. You can soak corrugated cardboard in hot water (tap water is fine), then peel apart the layers.
I’m a sucker for Kraft paper and have made several books out of paper grocery bags, so this looked fun. it was a little messy but not at all difficult. After the cardboard was delaminated, I laid it on the patio to dry, then tore it down, folded and taped the pieces into a long accordion, and glued on a set of recycled book covers.
I guess I’m using this book for pear doodles.
That’ll do, pen
Another pen for the graveyard. This one lasted 53 pages and exactly one month.
Screw and Book
There’s a screw in the concrete of my patio.
I made an accordion book out of recycled book boards and delaminated corrugated cardboard. It is very much not an archival process. I am brimful of not caring.
May
I find these month-long Alastair-esque trackers super satisfying. This was May’s.
I did a thing
gouache on 140 lb cold press watercolor paper
I haven’t painted in ages, but I got motivated today.
I got a super cheap gouache set and an even cheaper watercolor sketchbook. The paints are not great, I’m sure, but if you aren’t trying to get solid, flat coverage they’re honestly not too bad. I thought they worked okay as a watercolor wash, too. I’ll definitely get my money’s worth out of them.
Red Paper Boat
The kids a few doors down were setting off firecrackers in the back field a few nights ago. They left their trash, so I grabbed some of it for collage. And also to make a little paper boat.
Another One Bites the Dust
I killed another pen today. This one lasted 51 pages and 28 days.
New Journal
I started the yellow journal in January and the dark pink one in March. I started the light pink one on top last night. They all have about 150 pages. The yellow one has thinner paper, so it’s skinnier.
I’ve also killed a few pens along the way. R.I.P.
Inspector Thomas Is on the Job
I’m almost done Ruth the pink journal on top. They last me about two months, and it should be full by the end of April. So I need to decide which notebook I’m going to use next: the light pink one with white paper or the black one with black paper?
I haven’t used black paper in ages. It might be a good excuse to get some new sparkly gel pens and markers.
