Literally, just a ray. The western sky was dark and cloudy, but there was a break in the clouds to the east, allowing the sun to shine on the buildings in the west.

This is the sketch for the red boat painting. I’d intended the stars to be the Pleiades, more or less. I thought I might be able to use a stamp to create them, but that didn’t work, so I painted them freehand.

I’ve never sewn a binding on tapes before, so I gave it a try. I’d probably make a few small tweaks next time, but it turned out pretty well.
