There is something about paper recycled from grocery bags that appeals to me. I’ve bound several books made from them. Kraft paper just isn’t the same, for some reason. I think it’s not as soft or thick, and it’s lacking wrinkles and abrasions from having been used.

The ink in this pen is a bit watersoluble, but not enough to get a satisfying, bleedy wash. it goes blue in a wash, too, which is not great. The pen has a fine, fibrous tip and makes a lovely, delicate line, though. I think it’ll be really fun to doodle with.

Sometimes the most interesting thing you’ve created all day is the pattern of ink on the baby wipe you’ve been cleaning your stamps with.
Sassafras
On the bright side, the sassafras trees are starting to show off their fall colors.
Giant Ragweed
That spikey stuff growing out of the top of the thicket? It’s giant ragweed (AKA horseweed). It’s growing about ten feet from my patio, and it’s trying to kill me.

Goodwill Haul
I went to both of our Goodwills today. I usually don’t go to the west side, but Michael’s is over there and I needed paper, so.
I found Vans instead of Chucks this time. OMGRED with little rainbows. Also the obligatory books, some pencils, a tackle box for watercolors, and hanging files. You can never have enough hanging files.
I also saw two different groups of old order Mennonites and a Buddhist monk. Everyone was out thrifting today!
