Card Catalog

Catalog Card

Y’all have seen the card catalog generator that’s been making the rounds? It’s cute, but it got me thinking that I would love to have a small supply of the real thing. We got rid of our card catalog a few years ago, but librarians being what they are, I was sure someone had stashed a few away, so I asked around. Sure enough, there was a stack of a couple hundred cards with my name on them. Yay. And they’re lovely cards, too, with a nice patina, lots of notations, and excellent titles for collage work.

I think I’m going to try to figure out how to bind some of them into a book. Somehow, the idea of a book made out of catalog cards is extremely amusing to me.

A storm blew through about an hour ago, with hail, lots of wind, and really dark skies. When the worst had passed, there were some faint mammatus clouds visible. The bottom picture was taken after the sun had come out, but while the northern sky was still deep blue with clouds.

The mammatus pictures didn’t come out very well, so I tweaked the hell out of them in Photoshop.

Lovebird Feathers and Puppy Teeth

100_3555

Andy sent me some puppy teeth and feathers from their lovebirds. Um, the feathers are from their lovebirds, and the teeth belonged to a visiting puppy. The feathers are bitty, but I think I’ll be able to incorporate them into something.

In other news, I finally managed to get fed up enough to complain about Mr. Upstairs. Boy did I not want to do that, but I really didn’t have a choice. Yesterday, I was treated to the twin blarings of his television and jazz music. I’m sorry, but I draw the line at being invaded by a jazz band. The office manager’s response to Mr. Upstairs dumping random crap on my patio was “Eeeew!” She said they’d send him a letter, so hopefully within a day or two, the noise level will drop, and things stop falling from the sky.

“It’s people!”

While I was watching The Amazing Race[1] last night, I noticed something amusing during one of the commercials. Thanks to the magic of DVR, I was able to rewind it and get the exact wording:

…Patients also taking aspirin and the elderly are at increased risk for stomach bleeding and ulcers.

So if you are eating elderly people, lay off the Celebrex!

[1] I was sad to see Uchenna and Joyce go. They have been favorites of mine since the first time they were on the show. Why, oh why, couldn’t it have been Charla and Mirna? They make my ears bleed. I cringe when they start talking to anyone they think isn’t fluent in English–their pidgin English and exaggerated accents are painful and embarrassing.
