I took a quick tour of the patio when I got home this afternoon. There was a surprise bunch of asters blooming. I thought they’d died off! They were hiding under the cannas.

I Don’t Care
Staff Meeting Doodle

ballpoint and gel pen in steno pad
9 x 6 inches
We had a longer-than-usual meeting today, so I was able to add quite a bit to the last doodle. The second half of the meeting covered the aftermath of the personnel-and-budget-crisis-collide clusterfuck. The good news is, everyone will be keeping their jobs; the bad news is that positions that have been vacated will not be filled. Thank you, Mitch Daniels!
Ow!
I hit the back of my hand on one of the bookshelves at work today. It didn’t seem bad at the time, but now I can’t make a fist. It’s just a soft tissue injury, but it hurts, dammit! I guess it’s time to go find a bag of frozen vegetables.
We are not amused.
Morning Sun
Thankfully, no one came into the staff lounge while I was lying in the middle of the floor, taking this photo.
In other news, the kids are flooding back into town. I stopped at Target on the way home to pick up cat litter, and the store was a circus. And because some jeenyous is in charge of scheduling, there weren’t anywhere near enough check-out lanes open. An errand that normally takes 10 minutes took closer to 30.
Good Times
We’re having an extra long staff meeting tomorrow. I wonder if we are going to collectively get our hands slapped for being little chatterboxes, and if so, whether or not I’ll be allowed to skip those particular festivities, since I’ve already had more than my fair portion. I wouldn’t want to be greedy, after all.
I stayed home sick on Monday, and my boss asked me this morning if I’d skipped work because I was upset with her. Srsly. That she would assume that it’s all about here is mind boggling. Not to mention that, if I were still angry on Monday, after getting in trouble the previous Wednesday, why would I suddenly be unangry enough on Tuesday to come back to work? The mind boggles.
And now, I think it’s time for some gratuitous flower pictures.
