Boxering Day Blogging
I’ve tried a few times to teach Harriet to sit in the spinny chair, but she’s wanted no part of it. No way, no how, won’t even put her front paws on it. Today, I gave it another shot, and we achieved dog-in-spinny-chairness. Yay!
She now knows how to get up and off on command (she knew both commands, but she thought the spinny chair should be excepted), even when it’s not being held steady for her. She also learned how to sit on it long enough to have her picture taken.
Good girl!
Pure Comedy Gold
I had a peanut butter sandwich and tomato soup for supper. Miss Brown, who is spoiled rotten, waited patiently for me to give her the end of my sandwich. It took her about 20 minutes of lick-lick-licking to get all the peanut butter off the roof of her mouth.
Lazydog Blogging
It’s another lazy grey day, and since I’ve been working on photographing and scanning, and not entertaining Miss Brown, like I’m supposed to, she got disgusted with me and retired to her favorite napping spot. Of course, just as she was finally settled and starting to fall asleep, I decided it was the perfect time to take her picture. I’m mean that way.
YouTube Goodness
We had a Fake Blog assignment to use YouTube. I thought I’d share the video I used for that assignment. The dogs belong to one of the dog group folks.
Rooroo
It is beautiful, especially that last, lone, plaintive roo.
When I was a kid, we had a dog who rooed (Bear). He taught other dogs in the neighborhood to howl along with him. I remember, in the summertime, when the windows were open, the neighborhood dogs hanging around outside the little Methodist church building and “singing” hymns along with Dorothy Humbarger.
Work Bench
My messy coffee table slash work bench. It used to be a desk, but I took the legs off and turned it into a coffee table. It weighs about a million pounds and is really beat up, but it’s functional and I don’t have to worry about trashing it because, hey, it’s already trashed.
It sleeted, iced, and snowed last night. This morning, there was just a thin film of snow on the patio, so it doesn’t seem to have amounted to much. Right now, I can hear water dripping outside, so it must have warmed up. I should go out and clear the little bit of snow that’s left on my car’s windshield and front bumper, but I’m not feeling too motivated in that direction. Maybe I’ll do it when I check the mail.
Bosc Pear and Asian Pear

Bosc Pear and Asian Pear (detail)
I like the watercolor bloom that happened when I did the undercoat, so I left as much of it as I could.
The Asian pear in the photo was upside down, because Harriet knocked it over. I put it back in the wrong position and didn’t notice until I went back to painting. At least she didn’t leave bite marks in it, this time! The banana she swiped off the kitchen table did not fair so well. I came back from taking out the trash to find it squashed all over the kitchen floor. Brat.

Studio Cat
Pan was asleep on my drafting table, surrounded by journals and sketchbooks. I’d pulled them out, because I didn’t do a good job of including information for older images at Flickr. When recreating my Coppermine database, I had to go back to the original source for things like media and dimensions. So, there are stacks of books everywhere. I haven’t pulled out the canvasses yet, but I expect that’ll be even messier. I also expect that Pandora will insert herself right in the middle of everything, because that’s what she does.
