I’ve been working on this one through several meetings (phase 1 and phase 2). We had a two hour presentation this afternoon, and I think I’m just about out of room.

We also had a carry-in meeting-slash-party for a coworker’s 10th anniversary. I may have mentioned that I’m not a big fan of the office carry-in? I don’t know why they make me cranky, but they do. And the worst part is that there are always leftovers, and the leftovers always get stuck on a book truck right behind my cubicle. You know, where the phone is. Because the only thing more irritating than having to answer and/or listen to everyone’s phone calls is being distracted by an endless parade of people bellying up to the snack bar.

Flickr seems to be having Firefox-related issues. When I try to upload new photos in Firefox, they do not appear. Actually, make that any new photos from anyone. I get a blank square and the page tries to load indefinitely. It works just fine in Opera, Netscape, and Maxthon/IE, though. Hrmf.

Anyway, this is a reworking of a photo I took a year and a half ago. The original, and some others I took of the same building, can be found here. The carriage-house-slash-garage is behind my mom’s house. It was about to fall down, but she had it re-roofed and has been working on it. These are all “before” pictures. I don’t have any “after” pictures because it’s a work in progress, and, well, “after” shots of once crumbling heaps of junk are BORING.

So much for listening to coworkers, instead of actually consulting with the weather folks. Not only did it not frost this weekend, but I had to turn on the AC last night to cool my apartment down enough to sleep. Today, it’s supposed to be in the 80s. At least the clouds seem to be thinning. I was able to see stars when I was out with the dog this morning, which was nice.

Hrmf.

In other news, I’m cat sitting again this weekend, but only a short stint. And I may have picked up a new client. We’re doing a trial run while they’re out of town on a short trip. I got to meet the kittens yesterday, and they are Teh Cute. A tortie and a tuxedo. The tortie reminded me of Polkadottie. She’s about the same shade with the same mix of orange vs. black.

Seasonal Wardrobes

I’ve been a little (okay, a lot) grumpy about the continuing hot weather we’ve been having. Somehow, mid-90s in October just seems very, very wrong. I was complaining about the heat to a friend, who said she was happy about it, because it meant that she didn’t have to put away her summer clothes yet.

Summer clothes? What the hell are those? Seriously. It’s so cold at work that I couldn’t wear them if I wanted to, so I wear jeans and T-shirts year round and keep a hoodie on the back of my chair for days when I get chilled. Proper layering is key. Proper layering also means that I don’t own an actual coat. I just add another hoodie when it gets truly cold, and gloves, hat, and a scarf if I’m going to be outside for long.

Anyway, I thought it was kind of funny that my friend is complaining about having to get out her winter wardrobe and coat, while I’ve been wearing mine all summer.
