Puffballs

Puffball Mushrooms

We’ve had a lot of rain lately. There are tons of little puffballs popping up all over the back field. I also found a blue jay feather. I know I shouldn’t pick them up, but what goes in my journal is between me and my journal, okay?

It’s been a day. It’s the end of the month, so I had a bunch of nitpicky nonsense to wrap up at work. And a coworker is retiring. Today was her last day, which means there was an endless parade of chattering people nearby. (Earbuds and Rage Against the Machine solved that problem!) Then there was a huge power outage in my area, as I was leaving work. Traffic lights were out all the way between work and home, and power was out at home when I got here. It’s back on now, thankfully.

But look at this little boy! He was just casually grazing, right next to my patio. As long as he stays away from my daylily buds, we can be friends.

Raindrops on Daylilies

Derecho, ahoy!

We had one hell of a storm. It blew through fast and furious, knocking out electricity and internet service all over town. It hit just as I was leaving work. I stayed late so I’d miss the worst of it. Even so, traffic was a mess going home, because traffic lights were out everywhere.

But look how pretty the daylilies are, all bedazzled with raindrops!

Thicket and Deer Paths

Air quality is 150 here, which could be worse, I know. I’m staying indoors as mugh as possible, but the dog has to be walked. Might as well take a few photos while I’m out there.

I love the deer paths wandering through the thicket and trees behind my building. I’m only a few blocks from a major shopping center, but in the other direction I’m just a few flocks from hundreds of acres of thick forest.
