It’s looking more and more like a sunflower. With my luck, the deer will be along any day now to eat it.
I took out the trash and found a wasp nest in the parking lot, lying under a car. It looks like it fell off the undercarriage of a car. EEEP!
It’s a good thing he’s entertaining, because that’s all I get to watch.
I can’t wait for the weather to cool off. The heat index has been in the upper 90s in the afternoons, which is far too hot for dog walking. The lack of exercise turns young dogs into giant pains in the ass. There’s only so much indoor stuffy fetch I can tolerate.
Yes. Yes, Thomas will eat tomatoes.
Today’s visitor is a great spangled fritillary. They’re super squirrely, so I’ve had a hard time getting a photo of one. By the time my camera focuses, the butterfly is half-way across town.
The view from the parking lot this morning was gorgeous. It made going to work on a Saturday much less annoying.
This is a video of that black swallowtail I photographed a couple of days ago. He was a skittish thing and didn’t stay in one place very long.
I’ve decided that Thomas is half Klingon.
I thought this was a spicebush swallowtail, but someone on Instagram helped out with properly identifying it as a black swallowtail.
I also saw a zebra swallowtail on campus. I wasn’t quick enough to get a photo, unfortunately. They’re striking!
Also known as The Wind Tunnel. It’s not too bad this time of year, but in the dead of winter walking through it can be brutal.
