A Christmas Song
There are cats in it. It is excellent.
Waiting and Waiting and Waiting
I finally got around to going to the optometrist. It was use-your-tax-saver-benefit-money-or-lose-it time. And apparently I am not the only one who put it off until the last minute. I had a 3pm appointment, but there were a ton of walk-ins, so it took FOREVER. AND EVER. I found frames I liked and had everything figured so that it would use up pretty much the entire balance in my account, and then they slapped on a 30% discount. All that mental math (AAAIEEE!) for nothing. So now I STILL have about $100 that I need to spend. I may end up with the world’s largest Band-aid hoard.
Also, I bought a new sofa. That took only about 15 minutes, so it was relatively painless. They’re delivering it Monday. YAY! It’s not fancy, and it’s a little bit more traditional in style than I would’ve liked, but it’s really comfy and the price was right.
Scar
I beat the hell out of my hands. They are scarred and are frequently nicked, scraped, blistered, or just plain sore. Someone on Facebook commented that that’s because I Do Stuff, and I guess that’s true. Sometimes I do useful, creative stuff, and sometimes I do stupid stuff.
For example, the scar on my middle finger is from my fingers being crushed in the gears on a rusty antique cotton gin when I was nine. I don’t remember it hurting so much as me begging to go to the hospital for proper stitches. I was worried that someone might think it was paper towels and duct tape time, and I was pretty sure it was NOT. The ring finger on that hand was covered in stitches and was broken so badly that it couldn’t be set. They just sewed it up, bandaged it, and left it at that. It has a weird bend in the middle bone because of it, but it’s 100% functional, so I’m not complaining.
Toadstools in December
Fog
The weather has been disgusting. I don’t care, though, because I get a four-day weekend. I am soooo looking forward to it. And next week they’re supposedly going (finally!) start replacing my interior doors. Apparently it’s a little more complicated than I thought, so they’re doing them one at a time. Hopefully this will mean that not only will they not be flaking paint all over the place, but they will actually shut properly. As it is now, the only door that latches is the bathroom. One bedroom door is too loose and one is too fat.
Rain at Night
Bathroom Heat Vent
The painters removed the vent cover in the bathroom. I don’t know why, because it already had 487 layers of paint on it. What difference would another one make? They forgot to put it back, so I took the opportunity to clean it really well, then run it through the dishwasher to loosen the paint. After a couple of hours with a razor blade scraper, a letter opener, and a pair of tweezers, it’s mostly cleaned up.
Grumblegrumblegrumble
So, my real blog is down AGAIN. God knows why. Possibly hacked or (more likely) my web hosts did something that broke it. In any event, I can’t access the back side or the public side. Until it gets fixed (tech support is slower than molasses in January), I guess I’ll be playing here. I also think it’s time to switch hosts, once the holiday cat sitting money starts rolling in next week.
In the meantime, here I am (I’d move back here if I could find a way to import a large blog from WordPress to Blogger, but that doesn’t seem possible, at least not with my non-existent coding skills).
Alsoplustoo, here’s a photo of FEET.
