It was spitting tiny little sleet pellets at me when I left for work this morning. The day stayed mostly overcast, but at one point there must have been a break in the clouds, because I looked out the window, and the buildings across from the library were glowing against the dark sky behind them.

Not So Idle Threats of Snow
That lovely blue sky with those wispy little cirrus clouds that I mentioned? All gone. There’s a thick blanket of clouds, so I guess those threats of snow were not so idle after all.
January 7-13
There’s nothing exciting on these pages, content-wise, but I thought I’d show why I wanted to use art paper in my planner. It’s cheap paper, but it works fine for watercolor pencil, Prismacolor, and Pitt pens. And, you can see why I complain about the lack of sunshine. This was actually a pretty good week, for Winter in Indiana.

Clouds at Sunset
It got cold last night, and the wind picked up. I woke up at about 5am when the power went out. It was absolutely silent, except for the sound of the wind howling. It’s hard to sleep when it’s that quiet. Thankfully, the power came back on a couple of hours later.
The wind kept blowing all day, and we even had a few snow flurries. It was a good day for sitting on the couch with hot cocoa and toast, keeping warm under a blanket with the dog. (Miss Brown is the world’s very best hot water bottle.)

Sunday Morning
I’m going out to Owen County this afternoon, to pick up a few things and maybe take some pictures. I’m glad I’m not driving. It shouldn’t be bad, as there wasn’t that much snow, but there is a layer of ice underneath everything, and you never know whether or not the roads out there will have been treated.
Rust and Snow
I took this yesterday, while the sun was trying to shine. It’s been sitting on the outside window ledge on the 3rd floor landing of the main library for months. I assume the workers left it there when they were doing the facade repairs.
I don’t know when or if we’ll ever see the sun again. We got the promised snow. Are still getting it, in fact. I thought it might be a false alarm, because when I took Miss Brown out for last call, there was a distinct lack of cloud cover. I could clearly see Orion.
