I work for a state institution, so we get paid time pff for all the usual federal holidays. However, where I work, we have the option of working on some holidays and banking the holiday hours for later use. MLK day is one of those holidays.
On the one hand, I worked all weekend, so having a day off would be nice. On the other, saving that time for future snow days would be prudent. On the other-other, it’s supposed to be asthma-inducing cold tomorrow at 6am, which is when I leave for work.
Hmf.
It was about 5F at 5:30 this morning, when I left for work. There wasn’t much frost on my car windows, but what there was was stuck on with super glue. It took me almost 20 minutes to get everything scraped. And then, even though I’d started the car and had the heater cranked all the way up, there was still frost on the inside of my windshield.
Ick.
And then the sun came up and everything was forgiven. What a gorgeous sky!
Just a hint of pink. Nothing to to see in the west except grey, so we’ll make do with what we get.
Rain for days, and then this. O gross.

Tonight is the longest night of the year (or longest day, if you’re down under). For a lot of reasons, the winter solstice is the most important of the seasonal markers for me, so I’m glad to have finally reached this one. It’s all downhill from here, right?
This is ridiculous. The low heating bill will be nice, though.
I have no idea when I took this photo. Probably when I was living in the country, so early 2000s. The photo was blah, so I pretended it was a painting and edited the crap out of it.
I came home after work and took a looooong walk with Franny. The sky cleared a bit as we were walking, but it won’t last.
It warmed up, and now it’s raining. And raining, and raining, and raining. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the back field this flooded. And it doesn’t look like the rain is going to let up until morning.
