It poured rain this morning, so hard that Thomas tried to go on a sit down strike halfway through our walk. He parked himself in the grass and redused to move until I picked him up and put him back on the sidewalk.
He is made of spun sugar.
Then we had a brief reprieve for some picturesque fog, before it started raining again.
It was beautiful at 4am, when I was walking the dog. Crepuscular rays from all the street lights, and that peculiar dampening-and-sharpening of sounds that happens in thick fog. And it was just a little bit chilly.
It’s finally here! When I walked the dog this morning, I wore a hoodie, and I was still a little cold.
We had storms and a ton of rain last night (with flash flood warnings). Early this morning when I walked the dog, it was warm and foggy (and sticky and generally kind of gross). When I went to the kitchenette to microwave my oatmeal at around 8:00, the fog was lifting to the west.

It stormed, and Thomas was not impressed. Then the tornado warning sirens began, and we went to the basement, and he still wasn’t impressed.
I know quite a few people with storm-phobic dogs, and it is no picnic, so I’m really thankful that Thomas isn’t bothered.

I usually take Thomas in three thirty-minute walks a day. Not a lot of exercise for a young Boxer mix! It takes the edge off, though. Today, on all three walks, it started pouring rain half-way through. I have wet clothes draped over everything, drying.
When I was out walking the dog this morning, I watched the fog come down. It was pitch black still, so all the streetlights started to shimmer as halos appeared and spread around them, as the fog thickened. I don’t enjoy getting up at at ungodly hours, but there are perks.
The fog was still fairly thick at a little after 8am, when I took these photos.

It was dark and windy and foggy and rainy this morning.
On my way to work this morning, I saw an enormous flash of cloud-to-cloud lightning in the western sky. And then, after the sun rose, there was a gorgeous double rainbow. The sky in the west was still dark with storm clouds, but the sun was shining brightly on the buildings, and off in the distance there were occasional streaks of lightning.
Not a bad way to start the day.
