Aren’t they sweet when they’re sleeping? It did not last long. I took Harriet’s photo, then a few minutes later, took one of the kittens. A few minutes after that, all hell broke loose, and we are now enjoying high speed races around the living room. Harriet chases the cats, who are in turn chasing each other. The chase ends when the cats fly up their tree and taunt Harriet from its top platform. As soon as Harriet feigns boredom and turns her back, the cats jump down and the the chase is on again. And please don’t waste your time feeling sorry for the poor, wee kittehs. They are the instigators of this particular game.

Miss Brown is an Unhappy Model…
This is what happens when you take photo requests from Kibologists.
I went to Target this morning, where I found OMGTEALDUCTTAPE!!11!!!eleventy-one!1!!! Now, duct tape is a thing of wonderment and beauty all on its own, but when it is also the very best color in the whole world? Perfection.
(No dogs were harmed in the making of this photo. The human, however, had better sleep with one eye open tonight.)

A Loaf of Bread, a Container of Milk, and a Stick of Butter
I’m wondering where all that snow we were supposed to get went. It seems to have turned into a mostly rain event, though we are starting to get a little bit of snow build-up, now that it’s dark and the temperature has dropped. Somehow I doubt that we’re going to get anywhere near the 14 inches that people at work were talking about yesterday. That just doesn’t happen here. A lot of people must have thought it would, because when I went to the grocery store this morning, there were entire shelves picked clean. That could be as much due to the Super Bow(e)l as the weather, though.
Sesame Street, “Loaf of Bread, a container of milk, and a stick of butter”
This wasn’t taken today, but it’s pretty much how Harriet spent the afternoon. She does not approve of rain, sleet, or snow. I love the way her ear is propped up by the couch.

Harriet Wants a Squirrel
There were squirrels out on the patio, and Harriet wanted one. I love the way she wiggles her nub when you talk to her. The woo-wooing at the end was a bonus.
Queen of Pillows
There was a post recently on Bad Rap’s blog about things you can do to make life easier for senior dogs. One of the things they recommended was acclimating young dogs to sleeping on comfy surfaces, instead of waiting until they are old, arthritic, and getting pressure sores from sleeping on hard floors. That will not be a problem for Miss Brown! She has never met a soft, squishy bed she didn’t like. The only time she deigns to lie on the floor is when she’s eating something or it’s hot and she’s trying to cool off. Or if she’s outside, sun bathing. And even then, I’m sure Herself would be delighted to have me drag a bed out there for Her Highness.

Surprise Kitty Is Surprised
I posted this to Facebook, but I think if everyone on the planet watches it, the world will be a much improved place, so I’m posting it here, too.
I’m finishing up NaNoWriMo, so I’ve got a few hours of writing to do this afternoon. Ugh. But I should be able to complete it this time around, which will feel nice. And then tomorrow, my creative life will be my own again. I’m contemplating doing an art-a-day for December. We’ll see. I don’t want to commit to it just yet.
In other news, Miss Brown went to the vet his morning. Her skin infection is back, including sore, itchy paws, sore, itchy belly, and infected ears. Sadcakes. The vet gave her a two week course of ketoconazole, which will hopefully get things under control. A friend also reminded me that she should be on probiotics, so I need to go out and pick up a bottle of acidophilus.
