I walked around out back to check on the raspberries and multiflora. There are several buds on each that are close to blooming, but this was the only one that was actually open.

Lilacs
The maintenance guys finally (!) fixed my dishwasher yesterday afternoon, so I was able to go run some errands. At the grocery store, there were several lilac bushes in bloom. I took a couple of quick photos (and got a really dirty look from some random guy who was parked nearby, and who apparently had never seen anyone taking photos in public before).
Thistle
I was trying to get a shot of raindrops on the top sides of the thistle leaves, but then I noticed that the undersides were even prettier. The bottom one even has tiny spider webs strung across the little thistle hairs.
Rainy Days and Caterpillars
This little guy was hanging out on a sassafras sapling. I love the raindrops clinging to his little hairs and sparkling like tiny jewels.
Coral Bells
I don\’t think these are going to bloom this year, after being transplanted, but the foliage is pretty, especially when it’s speckled with raindrops. These don’t look anything like the leaves on my mom’s coral bells. Hers are pointy and dark purple. These remind me of geranium leaves (I think mine must be the “green spice” variety).
Virginia Creeper
This stuff is growing all over the back of the privacy fence between our field and one of the homes in the bordering subdivision.

I noticed that the honeysuckle was about to bloom, so I’ve been keeping an eye on it. Yesterday was the day.

These were taken with both the Lensbaby 2.0 and the Lensbaby macro kit (+4 and +10 lenses stacked). I did a crap job of focusing on the bottom photo, but I kind of like the softness. Next efforts will be better!
