Look how cute it is!
A crow.
Honeybees on flame-leaf sumac. They swarm the sumac flowers every year. It only lasts a couple of days, so it’s easy to miss if you aren’t paying attention.
And video I uploaded to Instagram.

A pair of mourning doves were hanging out on my patio when I got home from work. They’re more brazen than the blue jays and cardinals.
I don’t have bird feeders. A bunch of my neighbors do, but there are so many feral cats around that I don’t want to encourage the birds too much. But I do put out water for them, so they can have a bath and get a drink. It was 95F today with a real feel of 101F. On days like this there is often a literal queue for the bird bath. They start lining up on the fence and in the dead for tree next to my patio.
(I do not smoke. The upstairs neighbors do, and they toss their cigarette butts on my patio. I’ve asked them to stop, and they’re better about it, but I always have a few stray butts lying around.)
It’s been a day. It’s the end of the month, so I had a bunch of nitpicky nonsense to wrap up at work. And a coworker is retiring. Today was her last day, which means there was an endless parade of chattering people nearby. (Earbuds and Rage Against the Machine solved that problem!) Then there was a huge power outage in my area, as I was leaving work. Traffic lights were out all the way between work and home, and power was out at home when I got here. It’s back on now, thankfully.
But look at this little boy! He was just casually grazing, right next to my patio. As long as he stays away from my daylily buds, we can be friends.
This little chonk sat at the bird bath for about ten minutes, just having a think.
I found an intact robin egg in a clover patch, while I was out walking the dog.
Thomas would like everyone to know that the deer are walking by his patio. I’m sure you could hear him yelling about it.
Thomas and I went for a snifty.
We saw a pair of mallards having a swim.
