Shelfie with Boneless Cat

I had to look carefully to tell whether or not Pandora was still breathing. I’ve never seen such a limp cat. Her tongue was even sticking out a bit.

One nice thing about her being old and deaf is that she doesn’t hear the camera shutter. If I’m careful not to make any vibrations when I get up, I can sneak up on her pretty easily. Getting pictures of her sprawled out, sleeping, was nearly impossible when she was younger.

The seasons fit the same

I have another cat sitting job, starting Saturday and lasting until October 1st. It’s not fun to have to get up even earlier than I normally do, but it’ll pay for new brakes and tires, so, um, yay. And the cats are awfully sweet, which helps.

And speaking of cats…

Ms. Lea mentioned expiration dates, and I suspect that Pandora is nearing hers. She’s gotten increasingly frail and wobbly in the past year, and she sleeps about 23 hours a day. Basically, she’s finally looking and acting like an old cat. Her attitude is just as wonderful as it’s always been, though, so I’m not concerned. She’s had a good and long life, so as long as she stays happy, I won’t feel bad when she goes.

On a happier note, I pulled out some old flower photos and played around with them last night. I like the way this one turned out.

Cats and Dogs Livin’ in Sin

Pandora loves to sleep by the patio door, where it’s nice and bright.

Harriet kept digging the cushion out of her dog bed. After the umpteenth time, I gave up and put the cushion in the living room, inside the patio door. Mostly, Pandora sleeps on it, but Harriet has stolen it back a couple of times.

Without the bumper sides to hold her in, the bed is ridiculously small for even a miniature Boxer like Harriet.

Computer Update

Still no computer, but slightly less cranky, onna counta I think I’ve figured out what to do, computer-wise. Instead of getting a bare bones kit, I’m just going to get a basic machine. It doesn’t have a DVD burner or a ton of RAM or a card reader, but I’ve already got those things, and I know how to install them (blindfolded and in my sleep, even). I’m also going to get an external drive case, so I can use (and hot-swap) my current hard drives without having to actually install them. It’ll end up being a money saver, because a box with room for a second hard drive will cost more than the price of the hard drive case.

Anyway, I’m planning on ordering it tomorrow, so it should be here sometime next week. Yay!

Also, I am cat sitting Saturday-Wednesday, which should be interesting. It’s a 2x/day drive-by job, not board or live-in, but it’s on my side of town, so it should be pretty easy to do, schedule-wise. I went over to meet the cats a couple of weekends ago, and the male is a total mush. It made me miss my big-headed orange boy. The female is a bit stand-offish, which is typical of cats. She’s a senior, and will require pilling, which should be fun. After months on end of pilling Rory, though, I think I’m well qualified in the cat pilling department!
