I couldn’t find Pandora when I got home yesterday. I looked everywhere, then looked everywhere again. I finally found her on top of the fridge. Now, back when she was younger, she used to perch on the fridge and every other high surface in the house. She hasn’t done that so much the past few years, as she’s gotten more frail and wobbly. Apparently she’s feeling pretty spry these days, though, because she has claimed Mt. Fridge as her own personal queendom.

More Winston
This time, he’s eating blueberries.
More Winston!
It’s always a good day when there’s a new Winston video.
Pandora
This was one of the first test shots with the Lensbaby. I haven’t experimented with swapping out apertures, yet, so the indoor photos are awfully soft, even when taken in front of the window. It doesn’t help that she’s black, either. You’d never know that she was sleeping with her paws folded over her nose. Instead of extreme cuteness, there’s a black hole of nothingness. Hrmf.
Winston
Random YouTube cutenss of the day
I especially like the way Mr. Winston noms on the plastic lid. Winston means business! Also, note that his human lets Winston lick his hands, then goes back for more finger food. For himself. That’s someone who loves teh kittehs.
Patina
I’ve taken photos of the front door handle before, but in the rain, when the blue-green patina doesn’t show up very well.
It’s a beautiful day for wandering around and taking photos. I had to work, though. I ended up leaving a couple of hours early, because I had a headache, which means that even though I’m home, I don’t really feel like tromping around outdoors. Hopefully it’ll be gone soon, because I’d really like to stop at the little graveyard on the edge of town, on my way to my cat sitting job. I planned to stop yesterday, but there were a bunch of AT&T trucks in the parking area, so I didn’t have a place to pull in. Besides, I don’t exactly relish the idea of visiting the dead folks with a bunch of guys from the phone company watching me.
Speaking of cats, I can hear Pandora making her usual muffled wailing noises. Whenever she finds a stray sock or wash cloth, she wanders around the house with it stuffed in her mouth, crying. Over and over and over and over and over and over again. She started doing that about 10 years ago. I haven’t any idea why, except that she’s a mutant freak. It’s kind of funny, when it’s not annoying. Today, it’s not exactly helping my headache.
Adventures in Shopping
I had a long and varied list of things I needed to shop for, so I had to stop at three places. One of them was Target, where I ended up in line behind a young guy who was buying:
1. Two bottles of toilet bowl cleaner
2. One jumbo bag of beef jerky (teriyaki flavor)
3. One bottle of KY Intimate Lubricant
M’kaythen!
At the grocery store, the man behind me in line bought:
1. Five Michelina’s frozen mac-n-cheese dinners
2. Five single serving jars of Campbell’s chicken noodle soup
3. One box of granola cereal
4. One bag of pre-washed, chopped iceberg lettuce
5. One roll of Scott toilet tissue
All the above were stretched out neatly, in single file, in the dead center of the conveyor belt.
Also seen at the grocery store, a young woman picking through packages of meat with a produce bag over her hand. Part of me thinks that’s very clever, and another part of me thinks it’s overkill.
I also picked up cat food and dog food. Pandora eats a little bit of kibble, but mostly she’s on canned food. When she saw the two flats of cans sitting on the dining table, she immediately jumped up and installed herself atop them. She knew those were for her.
Studio Cat
Pan was asleep on my drafting table, surrounded by journals and sketchbooks. I’d pulled them out, because I didn’t do a good job of including information for older images at Flickr. When recreating my Coppermine database, I had to go back to the original source for things like media and dimensions. So, there are stacks of books everywhere. I haven’t pulled out the canvasses yet, but I expect that’ll be even messier. I also expect that Pandora will insert herself right in the middle of everything, because that’s what she does.

Pandora Rolling Around on the Studio Floor
Pan is not only the Queen of High Perches, but Empress of the Low Lying Lands, as well. Her motto: It’s all mine.
(Edit: And this is a good example of why it’s worth messing around with re-loading all those old images. The above picture is 23KB, but the same photo uploaded to Flickr is 113KB. That’s a significant difference, and with a blog that’s heavy on imagery, it’s a big deal.)
