I think my little tomato seedlings are a little stunted, but they’re finally developing “true leaves.” Exciting! The baby peppers I started from seeds are farther behind, but they’re growing, too. I wish I could say as much for the columbine seeds I planted. I’m not seeing any signs of life from them. The zinnias and four o’clocks are growing, though. If something doesn’t happen soon in the columbine beds, I’m going to plant some more zinnia seeds in them. Who doesn’t like bright, happy zinnias?

Instant Review: EMG

IMG_3393

I unrecommend this product and/or service! Unless, of course, you enjoy being shocked and poked with pins.

Alsotoo, the doctor laughed at me for writing on my left hand, and then he turned around and marked up my right arm. WTF?

Alsoplustoo, the nerves in my right arm are Just Fine. So, again, I wasted time and money finding out what the hell is not wrong with me. I’m starting to think I may be losing what’s left of my mind, or at the very least, that I would have been better off not bothering to go to the doctor in the first place.

The Search Is On

I’ve been trawling for a cat or kitten. I swore I wouldn’t, but I can’t help myself. There was a litter posted to Freecycle this morning. I emailed the woman, to ask how old they were. Five and a half weeks. FIVE AND A HALF WEEKS! That is way too young.

I replied, trying to be as tactful as possible, telling her that they shouldn’t be separated from their mamma until they’re at least 8 weeks old, and preferably 10-12 weeks old.

Sometimes, I just want to smack people upside the head. There are six kittens in the litter, which means that six people are going to end up with cats that weren’t properly socialized by their mother and littermates. That’s a recipe for disaster, or at the very least a giant pain in the ass.

These are both inverted lens macro shots. You just take the lens off your camera, turn it around, et voila, instant macro! It’s fiddly and unforgiving of even tiny movements, but it’s fun to play with.

The top one is much crisper than the bottom one, but I like both of them.

Brown Sugar and Farina

Brown Sugar

I hate having rolled up, partially used bags of food in the cupboard, so I store things like brown sugar and hot cereal in canning jars. It’s much tidier, and you can easily see what you have and how much is left.

I write directly on the glass with a Sharpie, including any cooking directions or proportions.
