This was taken from the top of the stairs, at the back entrance to my department. It’s a dead hallway. The public can access it, but they can’t get anywhere from there, so most patrons will never see this view.

Butterfly Bush in January
My neighbor gave me a sickly, end-of-season-clearance start of butterfly bush the summer before last. I put it in the ground, thinking it wouldn’t last the winter. When spring came around, I couldn’t see any growth and assumed it had died off. Then sometime in mid-summer, it decided to rejoin the living. And now it WILL NOT DIE. Everything was encased in ice a few days ago, but this stupid plant is still putting out new leaves.
