Tug

Tug

I sometimes get lectured about how I should never, ever, ever let Franny play tug, because she might suddenly think she’s the boss of me or something. She has a beautiful “drop it.” Just lovely. And she moderates herself so that I can sit on my lazy ass, holding a toy between my feet, while she pretends to tug on it. I really do not see a problem here.

Ducts

Ductwork, Herman B Wells Library, Main Lobby

Every day at work, something new is torn up or ripped open or covered in tarps or blocked off. Sometimes it’s annoying, like the morning I had to go down to the basement and across the building just to get to the 3rd floor, because access from the lobby was blocked off. They pulled down huge sections of the lobby ceiling tiles, exposing layers of duct work and metal mesh, and under it all, the corbelled concrete ceiling. It’s really kind of beautiful.

62F

62F IN MY CUBICLE!

The steam is off to the entire building. No hot water, and NO HEAT. ALL WEEK. Which wouldn’t seem like a problem, given that it’s the end of May, but it is goddamn freezing in here, yo. I brought yoghurt for breakfast and can’t even eat it, because I am a popsicle and eating something cold sounds like a really bad idea. Ugh. So instead I’m sucking down coffee as fast as I can.
