I took this photo from the break room, because there isn’t usually anyone in there in the early morning, and I can turn off the lights so there’s no glare on the windows. A coworker came in, as I was leaving, and gave me a perplexed look. I pointed to the window, and to this view, and she still couldn’t understand what I was doing.

Happy Labor Day (US)!
I worked today, because I need to save as much PTO as possible
for snow days this winter. I burned through most of my banked time off when Frances was sick, then when I got Thomas I used up the little bit I’d managed to re-bank. (We accrue time off biweekly, instead of getting a lump of time at the beginning of the year.)
So today I worked so I could save the holiday hours. Not the best way to celebrate Labor Day, but it beats having to drag myself to work in an ice storm or when it’s -10F.

Great Spangled Fritillary
Today’s visitor was a great spangled fritillary. And thank goodness, too. When I got home from work, the street in front of my complex was blocked by a car with its driver’s side door open, and a shirtless guy standing in the street, screaming hysterically at the driver.
I turned around, circled the block, and entered the complex from the other direction. And he was still screaming.
I went inside, got Thomas, and we left for a walk. Still screaming.
Thomas and I got back about a half hour later, and the shirtless guy was no longer screaming, but was still agitated.
They did finally leave at some point. I hope the guy calmed down. I did considered calling the police but decided that wasn’t going to help the situation for the guy or his girlfriend. The girlfriend could have left him and driven off at any point, if she felt threatened.
Ugh.
So, butterflies! They were a welcome sight.
