When last we espied my mom’s chimney, it looked like this:

I keep telling her that she should turn them into a patio. It would be labor intensive to get all the mortar off them, but they’re an original part of the house and ought to be reused, plus, they’d make an awfully pretty patio.
My mom has a patch of poppies in her side garden. I actually bought them about 12-15 years ago. I’ve only managed to see them in bloom a few times, so it was nice to finally visit there before the flowers were gone.
Yesterday’s storm was a little creepy. When the back end came into view, there were lots of tendrils hanging down, and they were rotating. There was a tornado warning earlier in the afternoon, and I guess there were two funnel clouds spotted southwest of Bloomington (between Bloomfield and Worthington).
They’ve stripped the interior to the studs and beyond.
There’s a big hole in the wall, in what used to be the bathroom. Everything inside has been stripped to the studs. The floorboards were pulled up, and the roof has been torn off the back half of the house.
I used to live in the house behind my mom’s. It’s another old Victorian and needed a lot of work. It’s been sold several times since then, and each time, it’s gone farther and farther downhill. The last sale was to someone who was supposedly gutting the place so she could renovate it. Only, the building permit on the front door is dated two years ago, and the owner seems to have abandoned it in mid-flip.

More random crap from my mom’s porch. The top one is an old chandelier, and the bottom one is a big terra cotta tray full of stones and minerals and, for some reason, a little clay cow head. Mooo.
I have no idea what that thing is. It looks like a dryer exhaust, except that there’s never been a dryer there (would not be possible, in fact). It’s sticking out of the back of my mom’s house, at basement level. Anyway, that’s about how I feel today. Hrmf.
