I had some time while waiting for the bus this morning, so I had a wander around the garden.

And no, I still don’t have my car back. The shop called to tell me it was finished, and I went to pick it up, but the brakes still weren’t right. They think the pedal just needs to be adjusted. It was so soft that there was no reaistance at all and no braking until the pedal was on the floor. It did brake, though!

They promised they’d work on it first thing in the morning and that it will FOR REAL be finished tomorrow.

I got out the big camera, for a change. All these were taken with a Lensbaby 2.0. Close-ups were taken with a macro filter.

And guess what? My car still isn’t fixed. They put everything back together and still couldn’t get the brake lines to pressurize, because the master cylinder is also shot. So that’s going to double my repair bill. They said the part should arrive tomorrow morning, and they promised it would be ready to pick up by the end of the day tomorrow.

I thought that the one silver lining of losing Frances, and it was a pretty piss poor one, was that I would finally be done hemorrhaging ridiculous amounts of money. HA! No, I would not be that lucky.

This flower pot is a popular napping spot for the feral cats. I put an end panel from a dog crate over it, to discourage them, which seems to be working well. Yay!

And then, since something worked for me, the damn deer ate my day lilies. We are not allowed to have nice things, obviously.

Somehow all of my flowers did not die of neglect. This day lily is blooming, and another variety is full of buds. And most of the seeds I planted last weekend are sprouting, which is kind of exciting.

I can hear thunder. I hope this little cell doesn’t disappear before it gets here, so I don’t have to water the garden.

I found a few yellow primroses blooming, when I weeded. The poor things were entirely engulfed by vines.

I thought I’d better sweep up the remaining debris, becore it rains. Also, PATIO FURNITURE! I could actually sit outside now, if it cos off enough.

There was so much catnip crowding this bed that you couldn’t even see the irises at the back. I thought it was generic mint at first, but Piglet and Polly said otherwise (see below).

I pulled the catnip out of this bed and cleared a ton of wild strawberry and vineweed from the other two beds. I planted shade wildflower seeds and some purple zinnias. Hopefully there will be time for them to bloom before it freezes. My timing sucked this year, but that’s what happens when your dog breaks. Gardening goes on the back burner.

The other two beds got primroses, more zinnias (multicolor), echinachea, cosmos, and more wildflower mix. Also a few sunflower seeds. I dont have high hopes for those, but what the hell? May as well give it a try. Again.
