Iron Weed
I hate this time of year, because it’s ragweed season, and my allergies are just awful. However, it’s also iron weed season, which makes me happy. There’s a garden in my neighborhood with black eyed susans and iron weed growing together, and it’s just beautiful.

I came to work yesterday and saw this tacked to the exterior of a coworker’s cubicle. A dryer sheet. They’re all over the inside, too. Another coworker told her that dryer sheets ward off bedbugs. Ward off. Apparently they work like hex signs.
Harriet loved to tear up old food bags, making sure to get at every last crumb. Frances is carrying on the tradition.
Also, a plug for Mister Buck’s Genuinely Good Pet Food. When I got Franny, she was skinny and full of dandruff. You do NOT want a description of what came out of her back end, the first few days. I transitioned her cold turkey to Mister Buck’s Everyday kibble (I had it left-over from Harriet), and could not be happier with the results.
Apparently toys are more fun when they’re in my lap.

I’m not super keen on sharing my patio with spiders, but I do appreciate that they eat bugs. Lots and lots of bugs. These guys are also really docile. They pretty much just stay in their webs.
