The Longest Night

Tonight is the longest night of the year (or longest day, if you’re down under). For a lot of reasons, the winter solstice is the most important of the seasonal markers for me, so I’m glad to have finally reached this one. It’s all downhill from here, right?

Bath Time for Frances
I had intended to give Frances a bath last night, because she was ridiculously stinky after being in a cone for a month, but I decided against it. I felt like she had had enough excitement for one day.
So today was bath day. And new collar day. The vet had used her old pink skull collar to strap down her cone, and it was too stinky to salvage.
Aside from her bath, Frances spent the day alternating between napping and playing rolly-poly.
Find the Staple
Frances had her stitches and staples removed this morning. HALLELUJAH! I brought her home and went straight to work, because I was afraid I wouldn’t find parking if I didn’t hurry.
Which means I didn’t look closely at her belly. I took a photo when I got home and posted it to Facebook. Someone pointed out the missed staple, and thankfully the vet’s office was still open, so no harm done.
The staple was removed, and Franny is now 100% free of all sutures. No more cone. No more pills. No more restriction from getting on the furniture.
Frances is a happy, happy girl.
