Bear showed up at our house and insisted he was going to live with us. About a year later, some pre-teen kids knocked on the door and claimed he was their dog, but he was having none of it, so he stayed put. I only have a couple of photos of him, and this is the clearest. He was some sort of generic farm Collie mix. Leggier than a Border Collie and without the characteristic crouch and evil eye.

I have no idea when I took this photo. Probably when I was living in the country, so early 2000s. The photo was blah, so I pretended it was a painting and edited the crap out of it.
I spent most of the day scanning old photos. Mostly stuff I had scanned years ago but only had low res files, since it was the dark ages when web space was limited. Also some photos that had never seen the light of day. I need to add proper titles and tags in Flickr, but I’m sick of sitting in front of computer and the dog is giving me extreme stink-eye, so it’s time to do something else now.

Physical Plant workers opened one of the windows and left it open for hours. It was chilly today with 50mph wind gusts, so the hallway was like a wind tunnel.
And, of course, it was cold in my cubicle. My feet were like ice cubes.

And, need I say that if “pro life” (by which I mean “pro forced birth”) groups actually cared about saving the lives of children, maybe they could have been doing things like working to ensure access to birth control, prenatal care, and programs for low income children and parents, instead of waiting around for permission to harass women seeking legal medical care?
When people say that cats are self-interested and aloof, it’s pretty clear that they have never really lived with one. Cats don’t have ulterior motives when it comes to showing affection. If they love you, it won’t be because you feed them or clean their litter box or play with them. It will be because they just simply do.
