Piglet had a miserable day. Our vet was able to squeeze us in, thankfully, because the verdict was a urinary blockage. You don’t mess around with blockages. The vet was able to clear the blockage and sent Piglet home with pain meds. Stoned Piglet is stoned.
He’s likely to block again. that’s just how it works. I swore I would bever have another male cat, after going through this with Rory. It’s a freaking nightmare.
He just peed, though, so that’s cause for cautious optimism. And he’s up and moving around, for the first time today.
I cleaned litter boxes and took out the trash. When I got back, Piglet was at his regular post.

I am so sorry about Piglet! Jack has had two urinary problems, always a cause for worry! Hope Piglet continues to improve?!?

Thanks! So far, so good. He seems to be feeling more like himself today.

I had two female cats that got UTIs every year, it was incredible. They were sisters and probably genetically predisposed but they were hard to manage. So I don’t think it is only males – their anatomy really contributes. I am glad that Piglet feels better. Have you asked the vet about canned food just to get more moisture in his diet?

I had a female cat who had chronic UTIs. No fun! Thankfully Piglet didn’t have any infection. Just the blockage.
I’ve got canned food for him. He just about knocked me over to get to it, which was nice. When Rory was sick he wouldn’t eat. I had to force feed him. He flat out refused to eat the prescription food. Long-term I had to settle for just giving him regular canned food, but even then he wasn’t happy about it.

I swear I have no connection but look at the website for Whiskers Holistic Pet Store in New York. They have a product called Crystals Away that reduced my pup’s level of urine crystals by 2/3 in a month. I also use it on my boy cat and he has not had a repeat blockage. He had one 8 years ago but none since. See what you think. I thought hocus pocus but the repeat test after I tried it every day convinced me.

We don’t know what caused the blockage. He didn’t have any crystals or stones in the urine the vet got out of him. Hopefully he won’t block again, but if he does, then we’ll have to investigate why.
