It rarely rains hard enough for our windows to get wet, because there’s a large overhang above them. That huge cloudburst a couple of weeks ago managed it, though. The dirty tracks will probably be there for the next five years, because no one ever washes the windows.

Butterfly Bush in January
My neighbor gave me a sickly, end-of-season-clearance start of butterfly bush the summer before last. I put it in the ground, thinking it wouldn’t last the winter. When spring came around, I couldn’t see any growth and assumed it had died off. Then sometime in mid-summer, it decided to rejoin the living. And now it WILL NOT DIE. Everything was encased in ice a few days ago, but this stupid plant is still putting out new leaves.
