After living down here for almost 10 years (has it really been that long?), I finally got around to getting a public library card. With inter-library loan, I haven’t really needed one, since I can get just about anything I want from the IU library. It’s handy to be able to get books at work, but there’s something about the public library that I miss. Plus, I’ve been spending my vacation catching up on reading and needed more books.
I guess this means that I’m officially a Bloomingtonian. Which feels kind of weird. I’ve moved around so much that I’ve never felt connected to any particular place. When people ask where I’m from, I never know how to answer them. Are they asking where I was born or where I grew up? Probably the latter, but I don’t have an easy answer for that, either, because we moved from the southern part of the state to the northern part, then south again, then to the east central area. And now I’m back in southern Indiana, which I guess is as much “home” as anywhere. In any case, it’s where I am, so I may as well pretend it’s Home.
