I just got back from running errands, one of which took me past a Christian school where a ball game was in progress. The players were wearing long, tunic-y uniforms with large crosses on the front. It looked for all the world like a bunch of little kids were heading off for their first crusade, and I wonder if the analogy was intentional.

Rain on the Rooftop
The roofers left the stairwell window open today, so I was able to get a clearer photo than I could have if I’d taken it through the glass
I’m going to blame my recently sporadic blogging on the rain. I know we need it, and I’m glad we’re getting it, but I really hate overcast days. If I were blogging every day, I’d spend the whole time complaining about the weather, and who wants to read that? Yuck!
Saftey: Ur Doin It Rong
My apologies for the super crappy photo, but I was so boggled that I wasn’t paying attention to whether or not the camera was properly focused. You may or not be able to see, but there is a human hidden in that cloud of stone dust. A human who, when he emerged, was not wearing any sort of air filter apparatus. Not even one of those cheap-o paper masks. WTF?! I am boggled. BOGGLED, I tell you!
In other news, I’m finished with my gigantic, big cat sitting job. I really like the cat, but I’m very glad to be done. Hopefully the owner will bring me the $219 she still owes me, to work with her tomorrow.
Chairs
They’re baaaaaaaack! A new crop of chairs popped up outside the back door of the cataloging department. The last group of chairs sat there for months, so let The Countdown to Chair Removal begin!
Fly
Tails of Maximum Perturbation
I totally forgot that I’d shot this of the cats a few weeks ago. They were watching Mr. Chipmunk scampering around on the patio, and as you can tell by Henry’s tail, it was most exciting for the kittens.
Baby Eastern Box Turtle
Raindrops on Spiderweb
There’s another funnel weaver web in my garden. The actual funnel is hidden inside the privacy fence, but judging from the size of the exterior bit, I’m guessing it’s large. The grass spiders are prolific this year, which is good. They aren’t aggressive and they eat a lot of bugs.
Raindrops on Canna Lily
I woke up to rain this morning, and it’s supposed to continue through tomorrow. We were desperately in need of it. It’s the perfect sort of rain for the plants–soft and steady–so hopefully my garden will be happy. I don’t think the cannas minded the dry spell, though. The silly things are at least 6 feet tall and still blooming their fool heads off.
Saturday Dogblogging

Miss Brown watching the bad kittens play
Harriet was up sick all night. Well, not sick, exactly, but she was definitely uncomfortable. She kept asking to go out, but each time I took her outside, all she wanted to do was eat grass. I didn’t let her, and she didn’t actually throw up, but neither of us got much sleep. All seems fine today, though, so I guess she just had a case of olddogitis.
