My Garden

Gardening with Dogs

It went surprisingly well, actually. Harriet was not overly interested in the digging portion of the festivities. She was too busy sunbathing, I guess. After I’d gotten all my seeds planted, she gave everything the once-over and pronounced it boooooring. I suspect she’ll feel differently once things start sprouting.

Pandora supervised, which was kind of a pain in the ass, but I couldn’t stand to make her go back inside when she was enjoying herself so thoroughly. I ended up digging about a 10′ x 3′ bed along one side of the patio (my back is not going to thank me tomorrow). Pan inspected every single clod of dirt, which is apparently her God given right as A Very Old Cat.

So, I planted sunflowers, three types of zinnias, painted daisies, shasta daisies, and echinacea, as well as coral bells and irises that I got from a coworker. I still have to get starts of tomatoes and peppers for my big flower pots, but that can wait a bit longer.

Oh! And I was not swallowed up by the earthquake, although the epicenter was awfully friggin’ close.
