Technical Note

My web hosts are supposedly in the process of upgrading their MySQL servers (if you haven’t noticed, access has been painfully slow lately). This should improve server response time. They’ll be doing the upgrade to the server where my domain is hosted on Monday morning. They say there will be about a 15 minute window when my site will be inaccessible. I think they are probably being overly optimistic, but who knows? Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

So, if you have trouble getting here on Monday, that’s why.

On Cleaning

When I clean, I find that I busy myself with one area, working until I come across something that belongs in another room. I then put that item away, and busy myself in that room, until I come across something that belongs in yet another room, at which point, the whole process begins again. In the middle of cleaning, I usually have a bunch of half-cleaned rooms, which can be daunting, but then, they all seem to magically achieve (what passes for) cleanness at the same time, which is nice.

I love this Flickr group.

Bread is kneading in the bread machine and laundry is sorted.

And, with that, I really have to go clean my house. Or, at least, I have to put a loaf of bread on to bake and clean the living room. And vacuum. And maybe clean the bathroom. It wouldn’t hurt to do a couple of loads of laundry, either. I should also start thinking about what I’m going to make for supper, but before I can do that, I need to wash the dishes and sweep the kitchen floor.

I can think of about a million things I’d rather do than any of the above.
